About Us

The owners of the Millstone Café are Joseph A. Blanton and Hortencia Blanton (husband and wife). Joseph “Joe” Blanton served as the Town Manager of Buckeye, Arizona from 1998 to 2004. For more than six years, Joe managed the day-to-day operations of the town, including a staff of over 200 people and a budget of more than 42 million dollars. Joe has a Master’s degree in Environmental Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from Arizona State University. Joe instilled quality customer service in every aspect of local government.

Hortencia Blanton worked for Bank One as a Customer Service Representative II for nearly twelve years. Prior to her employment with Bank One she worked as a food server for several restaurants, most notably, nine years at the Silver Café in Silver City, New Mexico, which is owned and operated by her aunt and uncle; the restaurant is still in business today and very successful.

Joe and Hortencia Blanton manage the Millstone Café. Hortencia is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business. Hortencia has 12 years experience in both the restaurant and banking industries. Joe is responsible for the finances and accounting functions. Joe has extensive management experience gained from managing the progressive, fast-growth town of Buckeye for more than six years, including overall responsibilities of the Town’s finances.

Most important to the Millstone Café is the financial success, which is achieved through strict financial controls. Additionally, success will be ensured by offering a high quality service in an extremely clean environment while serving the best specialty coffees and teas in Buckeye.
